Feel Created's Ian Long To Join Dragon Boat Race for Children's Hospice
Ian Long, Creative Director at Feel Created will be taking part in the Dragon Boat race this September to raise funds for the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice. The event is set to take place on September 21st, 2024 at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield.
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice cares for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, providing services such as hospice at home, crisis care, bereavement support and end-of-life care. By participating in this event, Ian aims to raise funds to contribute to the ongoing efforts of the hospice, to ensure that these children and their families receive the care and support they need during this challenging time in their lives.
Ian will be teaming up with other members of We Are Wakefield, a not-for-profit organisation run for businesses to network, collaborate and support each other. Together, they will compete in a series of races to raise funds for this incredible cause.
"I'm really excited about the Dragon Boat Race! It's a fantastic opportunity to support Forget Me Not Children's Hospice. Speaking as a Dad myself, their efforts to support children and families deserve all the support we can offer - though my kids, no doubt, will really be hoping that I fall in!
I'm looking forward to giving it my all and having some fun along the way. Any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated for this important cause."
The challenge will see teams of 16 paddlers and a drummer competing in at least three 250-metre races in dragon-decorated boats. The fastest teams will advance to the semi-finals and finals, where medals will be awarded to the top three teams. Races will take place between 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM, with participation open to everyone. Non-competitors are invited to spectate and enjoy the onshore entertainment throughout the day, including pop-up shops, tombolas, and raffles.
